MADFI: Minnesota Association of Defensive Firearm Instructors

About MADFI

The Minnesota Association of Defensive Firearm Instructors (MADFI) was founded in 2005 to provide a certification path for NRA-certified instructors to teach Minnesota Permit to Carry classes under new, more restrictive rules passed by the Minnesota Legislature that year.

Since that time, MADFI has served not only as a training and certification organization, but has taken an activist role several times to defend and extend the rights of permit holders in the state.

MADFI operates as a non-profit corporation, and is the largest organization of its kind in the state. Its officers are volunteers, receiving no salaries or other compensation for their duties (our master instructors do receive a stipend for teaching the all-day instructor courses).
