Become a MADFI Instructor

MADFI certifies instructors to teach Minnesota Permit to Carry classes as per MN Stat. 624.714, Subd. 2a.

To be certified by MADFI, you must:

• Already hold one of the following prerequisite instructor certifications:
  • NRA Basic Pistol and Personal Protection Instructor*
  • AACFI Minnesota Carry Permit Instructor, issued within the last five years
  • Other equivalent training in firearms education, as determined by MADFI
• Pass the MADFI instructor candidate pre-test
  • Encompasses state and federal gun laws -- case law and statute
  • Study guide provided upon registration
• Successfully complete the MADFI instructor certification class
• Stay current with MADFI dues
• Follow all MADFI rules, including participating in peer review and incorporating legal updates
