Instructors: Why Join us?

We welcome all qualified firearm instructors in Minnesota to join us, and offer several distinct advantages over certifying with a commercial organization or self-certifying:

• We are non-profit:
  
  Our training costs from $100 to $375, depending on your current skills, experience and previous certifications. Our annual fee is $35.
  
  How can we do it? The organization works because we work together. We support instructors. We are instructors.
  
  
• We've already done the heavy lifting:
  
  To self-certify, you need to register a business, submit an application including a full instructor training curriculum (yes, to train yourself), and wait to get it approved by the Department of Public Safety.
  
  We've already done that.
  
  If you're already an expert firearm instructor, join our organization, pass our class (It'll take about six hours for some NRA-certified instructors, and up to three days for those with no previous formal training), and you're all set.
  
  
• We keep supporting you:
  
  We don't hand you a certificate and show you the door. We provide a model curriculum, which you can customize for your own use; keep you informed with legal and curriculum updates; offer an online forum to exchange ideas and materials with other instructors; and use a cooperative method of validating our instructors' courses to ensure instructional quality (but don't worry -- it's easier than it sounds).
